CANCELLED: Traverse City Dance Project at the Crosshatch Meadow

  • Crosshatch Center for Art & Ecology 2543 Vandermark Road Bellaire, MI, 49615 (map)

Join the Traverse City Dance Project in collaboration with Crosshatch Center for Art & Ecology for this free performance August 3rd at 7pm. Please register in advance as seating/parking is limited.

Tickets are on a sliding scale, from $0 to $20.

Our program features a stellar cast of eight professional dancers from national and international companies, and includes Traverse City natives Sarah Wolff and Gabriella Dorman. Performances will feature four works, including new creations by directors Lott and Whitney and a staging of Italian-born Mauro de Candia’s Something I Had in Mind. We originally presented this playful balletic comedy as part of our very first season in 2012, and are delighted to bring it back 10 years later!

The evening will also feature live music in a collaboration by former Alonzo King LINES dancer & rehearsal director Kara Wilkes and celebrated Kalamazoo-based cellist and vocalist Jordan Hamilton. Hamilton and Wilkes are recipients of the TCDP’s 2022 NewVo Fellowship, which supports new creations by choreographers and composers. The NewVo Fellowship is made possible by a seed grant from Rotary Charities of Traverse City.

Audience members should plan to bring their own blankets and/or chairs for seating. The location is adjacent to Glacial Hills Pathway and Natural Area. Hiking, biking, and carpooling are encouraged. Avoid driving north up Vandermark Road. Follow the sign to go through Bellaire instead! Water will be available on site, but please bring your own picnic dinner, beverages, and dinnerware. This is a zero-waste event: pack it in, pack it out. This event takes place on a farm, which means the grounds are not manicured. Closed toe shoes are recommended. The property does not have pathways, but we are committed to making the grounds available for wheelchairs and for anyone with mobility issues. We’ll have flat ground reserved, as well as a limited number of chairs to support folks who cannot bring their own because of disability. Don’t hesitate to contact us to support accessibility needs.

Rain Date: Friday, August 5th 7pm
