Please join us for a special pre-screening of the 13-minute short mini-documentary film “The Cooks’ House” from the new series “On the Table: Stories of Food and Change”. Filmed and produced in Northwest lower Michigan, this first On the Table episode is made possible by a grant from Michigan Humanities and is produced by Robert George, Becky Tranchell, and Mia Hagerty, with fiduciary support from the Groundwork Center for Resilient Communities.
About the film:
Eric Patterson and Jen Blakeslee have decades of restaurant experience, and for the past 13 years, have been co-owners and operators of the celebrated Traverse City restaurant, the cooks’ house. In this On the Table pilot episode, Eric and Jen speak to the personal rewards and costs of their work and profession, the changing nature of restaurants, and the role a restaurant plays in its community.

After you register, you will be sent instructions to access a live streamed broadcast of the film. Afterward, we will discuss audience reactions to the film. Finally, the filmmakers will join us at the end of the evening to share a bit more about the purpose and creative process behind this storytelling effort.
This screening and audience discussion will be followed by Q & A time with the film’s producers.
