Join Crosshatch and Nature Change for the virtual premiere of the new, 18-minute short film, Plague Phase at 7:00 p.m., Thursday, January 28th. Filmed in a sculptor’s studio and produced in Leelanau County, the film takes on the difficult subjects of loss and adaptation in a time of ecological decline.
The event will be Live-streamed on the Crosshatch Facebook page at: facebook.com/island.artmeetsearth. Comments and questions from the Facebook chat window will be used to fuel a panel discussion from 7:45 to 8:15 or so.

Produced by Joe VanderMeulen, Anne-Marie Oomen, and Bronwyn Jones, the film features young actors Wren and Phoebe Walter, as well as Norm Wheeler, and features the poets Fleda Brown, Bronwyn Jones, Anne-Marie Oomen, Jennifer Steinorth, Keith Taylor, and Catherine Turnbull. The sculpture of Bill Allen sets the stage for this engaging encounter with imagination and the creative spirit in reaction to dramatic environmental change.
Plague Phase is being presented by Nature Change and Crosshatch Center for Art and Ecology with the support of the Traverse Area District Library, Old Town Playhouse, Title Track, NMEAC, and Traverse Area Media.
The premiere of Plague Phase will be followed by recorded commentary and a live panel discussion, including Stephanie Mills, Holly Bird, Seth Bernard, Jaime Delp, Anne-Marie Oomen, and Lesley Alicia Tye.
