Geothermal and Solar on the Farm

This tour will double as a workshop (advance purchase required - tickets $15). David Coveyou will focus on Geothermal and Solar energy efficiency technologies that are currently being used at Coveyou Scenic Farm Market. Details and a tour of how geothermal is being used to cool a walk in cooler and market sales coolers along with heating a greenhouse for vegetable seed propagation and the growing of salad greens throughout the winter will be discussed. David will also discuss and show the details on their solar PV array and the migration to energy conservation technologies.

Twilight Tours are an opportunity for area small farmers to learn from one another’s practices through a series of tours and farmer-led workshops. Farm tours are particularly valuable for beginning farmers as a way to build relationships, observe a wide variety of management styles and find support from a peer network. Upcoming Twilight Tours will have a unique theme, depending upon the farm. Following the tour will be plenty of time for Q&A.
